When starting Insanity, you are going to need to change your eating habits. Eating a sloppy cheeseburger and then going through the most rigorous training you’ve ever experienced just wont cut it. However the Insanity Diet Plan isn’t really a diet. It is more of a change in eating habits. Your body will be BURNING through calories like your back in high school football two-a-day practices.  So you will need to give it fuel to work. The plan will teach you how to eat healthy for the duration of INSANITY and for the rest of your life. What they call “Elite Nutrition” centers around the idea of eating 5 meals a day. All these meals should contain the around the same amount of calories. The frequent eating will boost your metabolism and provides stamina for your intense workouts.

What do I Need to Eat?

Everyone has different caloric needs. So the diet plan provides instructions on how to determine what your body will need. If some meals your eating do not contain enough for your particular body size and days workout, the guide will show you how to add calories into your meals using what they call “Food Blocks.” Which basically is a fancy way of saying your going to be adding snacks in between your meals.

Each meal given in the guide will be around 40% protein, 40% carbs, and 20% fat. Fats might seem odd, but it’s important to balance protein, carbs, and fats to promote optimal blood sugar control. This will result in your body being in the best possible state for your workouts.

What’s so Great About these Foods?

We’ll first of all, they taste great. Believe it or not, food that is good for you taste’s amazing. So no need to worry about that. The recommended foods have a low glycemic index, which means they have less impact on blood sugar. For example, high glycemic foods such as white bread and candy, cause a rapid rise and then a rapid drop in blood sugar, which drains your energy. Low glycemic foods will result in steady energy throughout the day and optimal fuel for your workouts. The Insanity diet also helps you avoid additives, processed foods, sugar substitutes and alcohol. All of which are terrible for your body and make you sluggish for your workouts.

If this seems like it to much for you, it probably is. It absolutely was for me. INSANITY is a tough tough program that honestly is not for people trying to start losing weight. It is more geared towards the casual athlete looking to take it to the next level. Personally I had much more success with another program, click the picture below for more information.
